About FPBPC, Key information:

 

Business Promotion Council (BPC) is an organization spearheaded by the Ministry of Commerce, and run on the basis of public-private partnership. The first product based council was launched in 2002. Subsequently, six more sector based councils have been formed over the last 18 years. Fisheries Products Business Promotion Council (FPBPC), the 3rd sector based council of Business Promotion Council, was formed in 2008.

 The Government of Bangladesh in its Export policy 2003-2006 recognized formation of sector/ production-based business promotion Councils (hereinafter mentioned as 'Council') for export promotion and diversification through addressing problems related to capacities of the industry in particulars. The need for forming a Council for Fishery Products /sector has been felt by the industry and the others stakeholders. This has received additional priority sector in the Export policy 2003-2006. Thus the imitative spearheaded by the ministry of Commerce (MOC) took particular shape with the formation of a committee headed by it's the then joint secretary (export) to draft memorandum of Association (MOU) and Article of Association (AOA), and a work plan for immediate implementation. The Committee members included representatives from related Ministry, related wing/ cell of Ministry of Commerce, Export Promotion Bureau, related government institutions, related banking & financial institutions, leading fishery related industry associations and etc.

Vision:

Promoting the local and international market capacity of Fishery Products Sectors; this will lead to expand an export market in Global premises.

Mission:

Development of Fishery Products, improving the quality through addressing the current food safety issues and solving problems associated with compliance by creating a traceability system throughout the value chain, developing skilled and experienced human resource and expanding and diversifying the export market.

 

Aims & Objectives

 

Aim and Objectives of the council:

The aims and objectives for which the Council is established are any or all of the following

to promote the export of Bangladeshi fishery product

  • to promote and facilitate export of fishery products and import of required raw materials, know- how equipment and machinery for producing export quality goods;
  • to develop a quality assurance program with a view to address the issue of traceability and collaboration with or assistance from the development partners;
  • to collect, compile and disseminate useful knowledge on fishery products, technology, market opportunities, compliance requirements, etc, so as to enhance the contribution of these to the growth and development of the national economy;
  • to promote, protect and safeguard the interest of the members of the Council;
  • to advocate to the government on matters related to policy and planning;
  • to make the government and other bodies aware of and responsive to the needs of fishery products industry;
  • to work with government, semi Government, private and international agencies with participatory a process for the benefits of the industry;
  • to co-operate with public bodies and other organizations changed i activities and / or objectives similar to those of this council in meters of common interest;
  • to send trade missions to, or receiving such missions from foreign countries for the promotion of market abroad;
