About MPHPBPC

The Government of Bangladesh in its Export Policy 2003-06 (and also in the Export policy 2006-09) recognized the medicinal plants and herbal products as one of the “highest priority” (popularly known as ‘thrust sector’) sectors. It is believed that there exists a domestic market of more than Taka 500 core for the medicinal plants and herbal products. Given the physical and soil conditions of Bangladesh, it is believed that Bangladesh could emerge as a major producer of medicinal plants and herbs primarily to meet its own domestic demand and then go for export market as well if appropriate guidance and supports could be provided to the industry.

Focusing on export diversification, the government is trying to boost up the export potentials of natural medicinal sources & herbal products. Consequently, this council started its journey on 24^th April 2006.
